Floral Scene is an anomoly in my creative practice and a departure from my normal paintings. I was inspired by my friend Corie Page, who completed a series of floral pieces in oil pastel last year to take to my sketchbook. It was fun to play with drawing and a very portable medium, and I made this larger piece inspired by romantic florals in vases and bows. Yellow is my favorite color, and one I don't always incorporate into my paintings, so this was a fun way for me to bring it to life in a more subtle way.
